Created for CGHubs New World challenge "Dr Frankensteins Lab", I was inspired by the Resident Evil games for my concept. I also wanted to show a families legacy as if generations of Dr Frankensteins had been working on perfecting the monster by using different technologies over time.
I used a technique inspired by James Clyne which he uses in pre-visualisation for films as concepts need to be churned out incredibly fast. He terms it photoshop kit bashing- mixing/cutting photographs and textures with a nice healthy dose of painting. You can see similar works in T4: Salvation, Avatar and Star Trek concept art books.
Lol, looking at this gave me inspiration. However, I suck at photoshop or drawing and the like, so it's not going to work out D: I'll have to live with imagining it or something D:
Cheers man. Listen, drawing is just a technical skill learning to see with ur eyes wots really there n co-ordinating that with ur hand/arm movements. If u started drawing everyday today by this time nxt week ull already have improved and the wk after that and so forth so on. When peeps say they cnt draw they're talking pish. Wot they mean to say is they've jst forgotten how to because we could all draw when we were kids. Photoshop is jst a tool and a repetitative one at that I'll learn it with time like everything and anything else
2years ago this month is when I started to teach myself art basics. I was 26. I'm 28 now. What I paint now I could only dream of this time last year which is why it's important to draw/practice with honest conviction everyday n ull start to improve in no time. 2years isn't a long time, but practice at 6-15 hrs per day n that's a lot of study time ull grow from. If u want something go for it!
Hey, sorry for late reply. Yeah, this technique involves cutting n pasting textures frm photo stock to aid the concept. Like brushes, photo stock r jst tools to be used. Check out James clyne
