Spanish sailing ships venture down the watery avenues of Times Square, New York and discover The New World.
I wanted to create an alternative moment when Christopher Columbus discovers The New World.
Because of the POV and high resolution I was working with, I couldnt find any appropriate photostock so I had to work from textures found at cgtextures.com to build a plate that I could then paint over using photoshop.
software used:
Photoshop & My imagination + textures from cgtextures.com to help create my plate.
it's a very fascinating idea and well executed, but aren't the ships a bit high on the water ?
Not that I really know anything about sailships but I would instinctively have expected a greater part of their hull to be submersed; as it is it startles me and seems to me to destroy the general composition of the scene
Writing on a novel like that myself. Only it's neither US nor 'East India' my Columbus discovers... It's Atlantis; and the locals are none too happy about it
cheers more beers RenaJ159. I'm glad you like this piece. It's a piece I'd like to explore again at some point or at least as a continuation of the story
